Six double-thread stitches attach the sections to the binding. iv + 328 pp of b/w illustrated text and index printed on white coated paper except for the leaf-key section, pp 87-162, which is printed on grey matt paper.
The contents are divided into four sections: introduction, bibliography and map; the forests; plants and animals; and, the largest section, the trees (or, more correctly, woody plants) - some one hundred of them, listed, described and illustrated in the order of the National List of [968] Trees (1966).
A 1p Addendum is loosely inserted at the front.
CONDITION. The binding and covers are as new, there are no ownership or other marks, and the book is complete and unblemished, except for very light rubbing at the dustjacket extremities.
Breitenbach was one of the leading authorities of his day on South African trees, and this is an excellent copy of one of his best books.
