This is the set used and annotated by the noted Orange Free State and Anglo-Boer War philatelist Andre Bezuidenhout of Bloemfontein. The volumes include his comments and corrections in the text, as well as some loose inserts (for examples of both see the images). Collectors may prefer a set with Bezuidenhout\'s additions to an unmarked set. In any event, Buckley\'s and Marriott\'s three-volume set is perhaps the best starting point for OFS specialists.
Blue cloth-boards, gilt to spine, with the top page edges tinted in blue. The title pages are typeset, with the rest of the text printed from justified typewriter copy arranged with the figures, some of which fold out. All three volumes have Bezuidenhout\'s signatures and addresses on the front free endpapers.
Part I (1966) The Republican Era 1854-1900. 282 pp + 4 pp of advertisements. The cloth is a darker blue than the other two volumes. The front cover has gone out of alignment at the foot (see image); this could be corrected in a book-press.
Part II (1971) The British Occupation 1900. 211 pp + 5 pp of advertisements.
