Original dust jacket. Original green buckram boards with gilt titling on the spine and a decorative device on the upper board. Light green decorated end papers. xxiv prelims, 520 pages, profusely illustrated with black and white photographic plates as well as full colour plates.

CONDITION DETAILS: The dust jacket is in above average condition having some light edge creases and tape residue marks. Although the dust jacket has a few closed edge tears, etc., it is still fairly clean and way above average. The reason for this is that it had a plastic cover for much of its life, but the down side to this is that sticky tape was used to attach these plastic covers, which left some tape residue marks - see image of the under side of the dust jacket. Some of the page edges have toning marks. The book block edges have tone marks/spotting.
