How it works

Register

Aged 48 when this this book was published in 1965, "Carter the Darter" (his alias on the front flap) darted rhinos with his cross-bow for the Kenya Game Department and the Kruger National Park. His work was filmed for Anglia Television's "Survival" series.

In 1968 he moved to Curry's Post in Natal and then to Uitenhage, from both of which places he wrote the seven typewritten airletters to Peter Brink in Cape Town and London included with this lot. The letters include details of an expedition which Carter agreed to join.

Colour-photographic dustjacket, brick-red cloth-boards, plain endpapers, 284 pp of text and epilogue + map + 24 pp of inserted b/w photographic plates.

The dustjacket is complete but quite heavily rubbed and chipped at the folds, edges and spine-ends. The binding is tight. The endpapers and contents, including the plates, are complete, unmarked and undiscoloured. There are a few tears to the folds of some of the letters, which, however, are all complete and readable.
