This is a copy of the second impression of one thousand copies, published a year after the first impression of 1936, also of one thousand copies.

Green cloth-boards, black to upper board and spine, plain endpapers, xvi pp of prelims, including preface and prelude, + 421 pp of b/w illustrated text and appendixes + frontispiece and 6 other inserted b/w plates on art paper.

CONDITION. The (sunned) spine and endpapers have been reinforced, with the original spine cover laid down and with narrow tape additions to the endpapers, restoring the original binding to its firmness. There are ownership names at the front. The contents are otherwise unmarked and complete. The endpapers and first and last few leaves are foxed. The copy is now rated very good overall.
