How it works

Being the periodical of the First Royal Naval Brigade interned in Groningen.

1 volume: no 1 April 1915 - no 21 December 1916.

21 individual copies each with its own pictorial card wrapper bound into a single volume with blue cloth boards, title gilt on the upper cover and spine, the back cover is insect scarred, a good copy.

There were 44 issues printed from 1915 -1918 and originally bound into 2 volumes. These are a scarce set and of importance, being printed by Hendrik Werkman.

The 1st Royal Naval Brigade was an infantry brigade of the Royal Navy. It was assigned to the 63rd (Royal Naval) Division and served on the Western Front during the First World War.

Hendrik Nicolaas Werkman (commonly called H.N. Werkman; 29 April 1882 – 10 April 1945) was an experimental Dutch artist, typographer and printer. He set up a clandestine printing house during the Nazi occupation (1940–45) and was shot by the Gestapo in the closing days of the war.
