Each 8 pages some with Supplements of usually 6 pages, in English and Dutch, bound in old half leather with marbled paper sides - the leather and paper are very worn and the upper joint is split half way along the length and the board almost detached, the contents are lightly browned but generally in very good condition.

The Government Gazette was the principal organ of communication of the Cape Government. It included subsidiary legislation (proclamations and Government notices in terms of acts), bills, acts, advertisements, tenders, shipping, divorces, births, deaths, insolvencies, etc.
