First Edition 1929; Methuen & Co. Ltd., London. Octavo, 7.5” x 5”, x [1] 171 plus 8 pp. Blue cloth boards with gilt border, titles, and illustration to front, and gilt titles to spine. Illustrated throughout by Shepard. Illustrated pastedowns in blue.
From the introduction: “ You will find here a collection of verses and stories, mostly about a little boy called Christopher Robin…I began to write the first book when Christopher Robin was three years old, and I finished writing the last one when he was just eight, so you mustn't expect him always to seem the same age as you read…The funny thing is that Pooh doesn’t like being called a Teddy Bear now, and if anybody says to Christopher Robin, ‘Is that your T___y B__r?’ Christopher Robin says very coldly, ‘No, it’s Pooh,’ and then Pooh and he go off whispering together.”
