The sub-title is:"...with Synoptical Tables of the Genera of the Higher Plants."

Normally this set is complete as 4 volumes bound in 6, but this set has 7 volumes. This set has an extra final volume to include the legendary Fig. 59 which is missing from most sets. The extra final volume has a complete set of all the colour plates, which were very rarely included the final volume called the "Letter Press Edition" that did have Fig. 59 present, but lacked the colour plates.

Volume one is dated 1913 and has xviii prelims, 264 pages, 65 plates and 109 figures and an errata slip at the rear. Volume two is bound in two sections, both of which are dated 1925: Section 1 has xii prelims, 120 pages, 42 plates and 75 figures. Section 2 has iv prelims, and continues the pagination from 121 to 272, and the plates continue to 70 and the figures to 162. Volume three is also bound in two sections, both of which are dated 1932. Sec.1 has xx prelims, 148 pages, 38 plates + 68 figs. Sec. 2 has iii prelims, and numbering of pages and illustrations continues to page 349, plate 70 + fig. 125. This lot has 2 copies of volume 4, the one is called the "Letter Press" edition and it repeats the text of Volume 1, dated 1913,followed by volume 4, which is dated 1915, which contains the legendary Fig. 59. Since the "Letter Press Edition" did not have the colour plates, an extra copy of volume 4 has been included in this lot to make it more than complete. The last volume is dated 1915 and has x prelims, 208 pages, 60 plates + 61 figs,(without Fig 59 - which of course the previous volume in this lot does have).

CONDITION DETAILS: Five of the seven volumes in this lot are in very acceptable condition, especially the three volumes that have their original dust jackets. These dust jackets have some edge wear, etc. Volume one is not in good shape as it has water damage on the binding which has caused marks and faded the title. Evidence of water damage internally is also clear, with some plates a bit wrinkled, plus bottom edge stains. The final volume is also not in good condition, with two of the plates and about 18 pages of text having a large brown bottom edge stain.
