How it works

Register

Royal blue cloth boards, blind ruled to the upper face, with gilt lettering, design and rules to the spine. The top edge is trimmed, with the other edges rough-cut. Plain endpapers. ix + 357 pp of text + b/w fontispiece photography + 20 inserted folding maps, printed on lightweight tracing paper.

The boards are lightly rubbed at the extremities. Although there is no obvious between-section cracking, the binding is slightly shaken. There is an ownership signature in red on the front free endpaper, but no other markings. Two of the folded maps are slightly proud of the fore-edge and the first of the two maps on the Battles of Ypres (1917) has an unclosed tear across the width of one of the panels.

The copy, however, is complete and the overall condition is very good.
