Gillmore - who acknowledges fellow-author H A Bryden in his preface - was a prolific author of hunting books, with his travels including North America as well as Bechuanaland (this book) and other African countries.
Full-bound in brown cloth with gilt design and lettering to the upper board and spine, blue-pattern printed endpapers, xvi + 300 pp of text + engraved tissue-protected frontispiece and 17 other inserted illustrations on art paper.
REPAIR. Conservative repairs are being made to the chipped spine ends and the endpaper cracks in order to restore the book's appearance and tighten the binding. Details: A new spine is being added with the original spine cover laid down and the endpapers (and binding) will be strengthened with new narrow tape next to the spine. Images: the repair was not completed in time for images to be uploaded but those interested in this lot may ask for these images to be emailed to them; they will be available before the end of the auction.
OTHERWISE. The copy is complete, unmarked and unfoxed, although with a minimum of age-toning towards the page-edges.
