This book deals with the wild North/West frontier of the Kenya Colony. In 1906, Major Rayne was assistant district superintendent of Police in Kisumu (port Florence). He was asked to go north to Turkana/Turkwell and find out more about gun-running and ivory-poaching, in secret, and challenge Mohamadi-bin-abdulla, who is captured and taken to Mumias. In 1917, Rayne visits Turkana again, with a 100 men of KAR(Kings African rifles) for garrison duty. After engaging with the Abyssinians at lake Rudolf. More expeditions take place against Abyssinians and Swahili raiders in Turkana near Lake Rudolf (1917). Further expeditions are made to Moroto, Loyoro, Kobua, Lomogol and Katome valley.
