Introduction by F.C. Selous. Author was an engineer in Uganda where the railway construction workers were carried off from their tents at night by lions which saw them as tasty and easy pickings. This classic East African title deals with not only the man-eating lions, but the construction of the Tsavo bridge, observations on hunting, Swahili & Masai tribes, and life in East Africa in those times.

"In the subsequent pages I have endeavoured to give a plain account of the trials and adventures which befell me on two recent expeditions through the 'nyika', or wilderness, in British East Africa". Written after 'The Man Eaters Of Tsavo' the opening chapter gives an account of several previously unrecorded tales that occurred when building the Uganda Railway.
