An original first edition with original dust jacket of one of Louis Cohen's hard to find later books.

The book is in fine condition with square text block, white pages and no inscriptions.

The rare dust jacket has a few tears and some chipping to the spine crown, but overall a very good example considering age.

Louis Cohen was a most interesting figure among the early pioneers on the South African diamond fields. He was the first partner of Barney Barnato and related some interesting anecdotes about Barnato's dealings with the early pioneers in his book "Reminiscences of Kimberly". Cohen would have been a very rich man had the partnership not dissolved before Barnato's stellar successes on the diamond fields. Cohen knew all the successful magnates on the diamond fields before their ascension and couldn't resist relating all their flaws in his book. Sir J.B. Robinson successfully sued him for criminal libel and Cohen consequently spent two years in jail.
