Poetry and art. The artist is Cecil Scotnes and his woodcut is printed from the original block engraved by him; in pencil "7/30" and "C Skotnes 79". The poet is the well-known author of the standard Zulu dictionary, B W Vilakazi; his poem, Ithongo Lokwazi, is rendered into English verse - The Muse of Learning - by Florence Louie Friedman.
The single cream cartridge deckled sheet is in very good condition, with a superficial 12 cm crease near the lower edge. The reverse of the sheet is lightly foxed in four places.
