The Origin of the Human Skeleton, an introduction to Human Osteology, H.F.& G. Witherby, 1930, gilt lettering on green cloth boards, illustrated, preface, abbreviations, bibliography, index, fold-out diagrams, 164 pages, previous owner's name on inside page, condition:very good.

The author was known for his study of mammal-like reptiles and his discoveries of partial remains of six hominids (Plesianthropus transvaalensis) at Sterkfontein, became known as 'Mrs. Ples'. With discoveries at Kromdraai and Swartkrans support was given to Professor Raymond Dart's claims for the Taung species, (1924) 'Australopithecus africanus', the early hominid.
