First edition, 1957,: blue boards with Balkema colophon in gilt on front board, the book is in very good plus condition (near fine) condition, no inscriptions, top edge tinted blue; jacket condition is fair to good, heavily rubbed, creased and chipped, worn spine with loss to spine ends and water stain to lower spine area. The jacket is now protected by a Brodart plastic sleeve. "The excellent illustrations form a special part of the book. There are sketches of certain striking birds and animals, and over a hundred exceptionally beautiful photographs of river and estuary scenes, of fish and of fishermen.
