512pp. Full, green, leather binding with 5 raised bands to spine. Titles in gilt over maroon leather insert to first compartment and publishers device embossed to foot of spine. Slight discolouration around the edges of both free endpapers (about 50mm) where the leather of the binding came into contact with the paper. Spine is sunned with a few small chips and the gilded "o" in the word "of" has rubbed off.
Otherwise a very good and desirable copy.

Housed in a grey, cloth covered slipcase with marbled paper edges and green leather lips. There is some shelf rubbing to the slipcase and a dampstain to the top panel. The interior of the slipcase also bares some use related marks.

This is one (Q) of 26 (A-Z) presentation volumes, inscribed to Carol Hughes on the limitation page. These 26 volumes each contain a signed, original painting on paper by Clancey with a description of its subjects (in this case a Moustached Grass Warbler and Chirinda Apalis) pasted to the verso. The painting is protected in a grey, cloth covered wrapper within a separate compartment of the slipcase.
