The fine colour and other illustrations, illuminations and black-letter calligraphy are all by Willy Pogony, who "presents" Coleridge's famous poem about the "Ancient Mariner", who "stoppeth one of three".

The original binding of bevelled green cloth-boards, with embossed lettering and decoration in gilt and other colours, has been badly repaired at the spine, and this repair will need to be redone if the attractiveness and value of this otherwise better than good copy are to be restored.

Top-edge gilt. Beige endpapers printed in a brown design and lettering. Colourful title-page design (see image). 176 pp of unpaginated text, printed in two or more colours, with colour plates tipped on to 20 of these pages and framed within printed designs.

CONDITION. Apart from the spine repair, the book is in better than good condition. The upper board is lightly rubbed, the lower board more so, and the corners are bumped and rubbed. The top-edge gilding is still bright. The front endpaper is sound, but there is a full-depth crack between the last text page (which is the colophon, giving the details of the printers and the year of publication) and the back free endpaper, loosening the binding. The contents are complete, unmarked and undiscoloured.
