A Quarto hardcover book in the original publisher’s grey cloth binding with titles to the spine and a title plus silhouette vignettes, all in white on the front cover. Pictorial dust-wrapper. The book is in good condition, tightly bound with nice square corners; the dust-wrapper has a few small defects on the top of the front and in the front fold, now stabilized in a removable cellophane membrane. The first nine pages contain preliminary material and pages 10 to 152 are text, including an index. Black & white photographs and drawings appear throughout the text. An alphabetical index of settler surnames near the front is a very useful feature for genealogical research. Red end-pages with the signature of the initial owner on the front fixed end-paper.
