This first issue of a new annual [the only one we have so far seen], with a heavy advertising content, may have been the precursor of the Department of Information's monthly of the same name, launched in 1956 in separate English and Afrikaans editions with no advertising.

Colour painting by Apol on limp front cover, advertisements on outside back cover and both inside covers. Spine strip missing. No contents page. 192 pp of illustrated text in English. Unmarked and undiscoloured.

Art is a favourite subject, with one feature by Jeanne Hugo discussing and illustrating Jean Welz, Francois Krige, J E A Volschenk, Cecil Higgs, Irma Stern, Maggie Loubser, Gwelo Goodman, W H Coetzer, Le Roux Smith Le Roux, Walter Battiss, Anton Hendricks and the Everard family.

Theatre, music, architecture and science are also covered.
