. . . from the consecration of the Shepherd of Bethlehem to the Rebellion of Prince Absalom

The beautifully decorated covers and spine of this rare book (which Fontein has not previously seen) are cream buckram boards with gilt-embossed lettering on cover and spine and with rose and green printed motifs. The green printed endpapers continue the design to the book, which has 507 pp followed by four pages of publisher's advertising.

The book's corners are bumped, the cover design is partly rubbed (see illustration) and a small part of the cloth netting binding reinforcement is visible at the rear endpaper hinge. The rest of the book is clean and unmarked with some age browning but no foxing.

The book's dedication reads: The author of "The Pillar of Fire" and of "The prince of the House of David" inscribes to the Jews of all Nations the present book illustrating the period of Hebraic history when the Royal Line of David first received from the hand of God its consecrated crown united in after ages by the last Prince of the House of David for ever with the crown of the Son of God
