This is a first edition of the second of the Dolittle books.
Grey cloth-boards with brown design and lettering front, back and spine, blue, yellow and white design to the endpapers, spectacular colour frontispiece (see image) with printed tissue-guard, 320 pp of b/w-illustrated text.
REPAIR. Minor repairs are being made in order to improve the appearance and tighten the binding. A new spine is being added, with the original spine cover laid down, and narrow tape is being applied to the centre of the endpapers. Images: The repairs had not been completed by the opening of the auction but those interested in this lot are welcome to request images of the repairs by email; these will be available before the close of the auction.
OTHERWISE. Parts of both endpaper illustrations have been obscured. There are library stamps on the frontispiece verso and the dedication page. There is a dedication in ink on the half-title page. The contents are otherwise unmarked, complete and undiscoloured.
