Both Volumes rebound in dark brown full-leather, gilt titling to spines, spines each show four raised bands, new endpapers, text-block edges age-toned, top and front text-block edges untrimmed, some foxing to title pages and tissue guards. Occasional light foxing throughout. Volume I: pp. frontis (with original tissue guard) + prelims + 522 + 16 full-page illustrations (incl. frontis) + 5 maps. Lacking fold-out map of Eastern Half of Equatorial Africa, originally in rear end-pocket. Several in-text illustrations. Volume II:  pp. frontis (with original tissue guard) + prelims + 566 + 32 publisher's ads (p. 31/32 torn, piece missing) + 3 maps of which 2 are fold-out + 17 of the original 18 (incl. frontis) full-page illustrations. Fold-out maps show some light foxing. Lacking fold-out map of Eastern Half of Equatorial Africa, originally in rear end-pocket. Several in-text illustrations. Spotting on bottom text block edge.
