Copy number 19 of 50 de luxe copies in the Africana Collectanea Series (47th volume in the series)which had a total print run of 1,000 numbered copies, of which numbers 1 to 50 were bound in leather.
Original brown leather spine and corners with a green title label with gilt titling and the publisher's device on the upper board.
Although this is stated to be the fourth edition, it follows the format of the third and corrected edition published in 1815 by Black, Parry & Co., London, and has xvi prelims, 400 pages, 2 index pages and facsimile reprints of the original illustrations and folding map.
CONDITION DETAILS: A previous owner left newspaper clippings in the front of the book which left brown marks and there are also tape residue marks from a plastic cover that has now been removed. Otherwise a lightly used copy that is internally clean. The title label's edges are not firmly stuck down.
