This is the abridged edition, printed by J.W. Myers for Crosby and Letterman, published in July 1799. Extra end papers of a slightly different texture to the text block indicate that this book was re-bound, but the binding is in keeping with the contemporary style, with attractive gold tooling on the black leather spine with gilt titling on the red title label. Marbled end papers. xvi prelims, 218 pages, two engravings: "Mr. Parks first view of the Niger" as the frontis and "Mumbo Jumbo" at the begining of the text.
CONDITION DETAILS: Although the overall appearance is clean and attractive there are some imperfections. The text block is in good condition, but a few pages have some stains, see images, and there is a little foxing in a few places. See image of title page for a pen name at the top edge. The binding is in very good condition.
