It is profusely illustrated with inserted colour and b/w photographs as well as figures in the text.

Light-green unclipped dustjacket with dark-green illustration to the upper panel and dark-green lettering and type to all 5 faces, green cloth-boards, gilt to upper panel and spine, top-edge tinted lime green, plain endpapers, 351 pp of prelims, text, references, 3-panel fold-out list and map of the 65 indigenous high forests of South Africa and 3 indexes + 28 inserted colour plates + 148 pp of inserted b/w photographs, all on art paper.

CONDITION. The dustjacket is lightly edge-chipped. The lower corners of the boards are lightly bumped. The endpapers are fine and unmarked. The contents, including all plates and other inserts, are complete, unmarked and undiscovered.

This is a collectible copy of the authors' first landmark work, published 57 years ago.
