This is a most unusual book. There is no title page, statement of responsibility, nor a name in the publisher's domain. I have been unable to find out who the author, or publisher is. The name across the upper right hand corner of the upper board is, I think, the name of the owner of the copy in hand. Text and photos are interspersed with advertisements. The first section is headed "The Malaboch Campaign" with 22 interesting photos pertaining to that campaign. There follows photos of "African Scenes", Leading Freestaters and Transvalers, "Fair South Africans", "Popular Randites" and scenes from Delagoa Bay. The text includes an extract from the diary of W. Vogts of the Pretoria Contingent, on an episode in the Malaboch War. The unpaginated album contains 55 leaves. A note on the upper free endpaper states: "Strange Collection paid R22 for a copy of this from a London dealer." Fading of publisher's cloth. Occasional grubby marks on pages. Tear in one cartoon.
