Five of the 63 rhymes in this edition are repeated from the author's Country Rhymes for Children. Twenty-six of the rhymes are set to music, for which the author acknowledges the assistance of Miss Williamson of St Michael's School, Bloemfontein.

The rhymes have predominantly South African titles, including Veld Song, Veld Trees, Veld Flowers, The Krans, Vlei Song, Koomati River, The Mantis, To a Meerkat, Angora Goats and The Stoep.

Grey paper covers, printed in blue, are pasted to cards bound at the spine with blue tape. The boards are soiled, with an erasure and a creased lower corner at the front. There are crossed-out and painted-out names names on the first leaf. Save for a small brown stain on the lower corner of the last leaf, the 72 pp of rhymes and musical settings are unmarked and undiscoloured.

This unusual 101-year-old find is not listed on the major secondhand book websites.
