This is a very good and complete 2-vol set of the original French edition.

- Vol II. ii + 403 pp of text, errata and imprimatur + 6 inserted engravings, some folded
Le Vaillant's famous engravings include the giraffe and the Hottentot woman, the second of which was apparently suppressed from many copies (but is present in this copy - see image). There is also an engraving in the text of what was thought to be a unicorn.
CONDITION NOTES. The spines are fine and present well on the bookshelf. The corners and edges are rubbed. The binding is tight. The attractive bookplates of George Keate and Clarkson Palmer are on both front paste-downs, but there are no other ownership or other markings. The text is bright and unfoxed but the edges of some of the plates are foxed.
