This is a rare copy of what may have been one of the most successful promotional brochures to have been thought up by the publicity department of a South African vehicle manufacturer (in this case, the Ford Motor Company) in the years following the second world war, when tourism - to, among other places, the Kruger National Park - started to pick up again.
Small landscape 48 pp self-covered saddle-stitched colour brochure in which the notable naturalist Dr S H Skaife illustrated and described more than forty of the more frequently seen antelopes and other mammals in the Park. The main colour illustrations and captions are supplemented by b/w sketches and captions of identifying details, including size comparisons with either a 6 ft man or a man's hand. (See the images.)
CONDITION. The covers are spine- and edge-chipped, with 2 staple marks at the font and a small black stain on the back. The contents are complete, unmarked and unfoxed.
