This is the true first edition and one of the scarcest African big game books to locate despite its relatively recent publication date, and was J .A. Hunter’s first book. He relates his experiences hunting lion, elephant, buffalo and rhinoceros primarily in Kenya, with interesting chapters on encounters with snakes and crocodiles. “It was a hard life, but kept you fit, and there was always the expectancy of shooting something really big.” He concludes with two chapters on selecting rifles, and was a proponent of large calibers with ‘shocking’ power, especially when a client’s well being was at stake. Original stylized "snake skin" covers, edges rubbed. Title label a little darkened but still quite legible. Recased with original spine laid on new cloth (less than 1/8 inch of the new cloth shows) and professionally installed new endpapers. Illustrated with photo plates.
