This is copy No 453 of the subscribers' edition limited to six hundred copies and signed by the artist and the chairman of the trustees. A loosely inserted compliments slip confirms the number of the copy.
Half-bound in dark-green goatskin with mid-green buckram sides, with gilt decoration to the upper board and gilt decoration and lettering to the spine. Black painting on green printed endpapers. Half-title with signatures and special edition details. "Spring Bouquet" (1911) frontispiece painting by Cythna Letty's mother, Josina Christina Lindenberg Letty. Title page, including "Cythna Letty (Cythna Lindenberg Forssman". xiv + 362 pp of b/w-illustrated text and 2 indexes, with 176 colour illustrations printed with the text on heavy matt art paper.
CONDITION. The spine is sunned to a sand-brown but the lettering remains clear. The joins between the leather and the buckram probably show more white than when they were new. And there is a small tape mark and another small mark on the front free endpaper. There are no ownership or other marks. The book itself - with its rounded binding - is a joy to handle, to open. to look at and to read, and the pages remain crisp, bright and undiscoloured, making this a highly collectible, almost as-new, copy.
