The author has endeavoured to present a truthful and accurate picture of the Boers in war-time. Eleven chapters, plus appendix, 318pp. with 24 black and white photographs of Boer soldiers and battlefields. The boards are in generally good condition, gilt titles, spine faded with a few chips to spine ends, edge wear, 'ex-libris' sticker pasted to f.p.e.p., end-papers spotted, some leaching and staining of rear end-paper edges, some gatherings cracked, but binding very good elsewhere. The book gives a detailed account of the Boer soldiers' lives, methods, and mobility in combat. Also notes on the great lion hunt of 1899-1900, differences in Boer and British equipment, chapter 7 lists the Generals such as Cronje, Botha, Joubert, Meyer, De Wet, De La Rey, etc..., Boer women, photographers, etc, etc... 318pp. including index.
