The First Anglo-Boer War (also known as the Transvaal War), was fought from 16 December 1880 until 23 March 1881. The author reported first-hand from the Boer's lines. Charles Norris-Newman was a journalist known for his reporting on the Zulu War of 1879, as special correspondent for The London Standard.
