Five 19th Century leather albums-- rough condition, bindings very worn, images generally acceptable— though some are cropped— as a lot they have a used, unsophisticated, folk feel, often lost with more polished albums. There are some exceptional images mixed in. Sold as a collection of images.
- Couch family, Westport, CT., c. 1907-10, assembled by a child, George Washington Couch (1895-1977)-- re-appropriated earlier album filled with vernacular snapshots, some cropped, many taken out doors-- an American boy album with images of circus animals, a blacksmith's shop, a church, a fanciful regatta, a dog, car, etc; family images, including dead brother. Charming. As FOUND.
- Memorial album (?) filled with images of an unidentified woman over about 40 years, c. 1879-1920's. Earliest are cdv's with British imprints (G. Hadley). Album contains an eclectic and uneven grouping of 18 images --some backed, some not, a few trimmed, dated on the page below the image. Album also has 1 silhouette & a CDV of a man dated Christmas, 1885. AS FOUND. 1 clasp; spitting at gutters; some images loose.
- Judson family, likely Waterbury, CT., c. 1860's/70's-- 4 CDV's & 11 Tintypes of men and women, some color tinted; a uniformed young soldier, seated; tintype of two couples; tintype with two women and a girl; small, loose tintype of a 17 y.o. dated 1868. Empty spaces; album is falling apart, split at gutters, worn, but with working clasp. AS FOUND
