Scarce three volume set, full colour printed on good quality glossy paper, all volumes in very good condition; 191, 150 and 175pp, each volume illustrated with colour plates relating to each species described. Volume 1 'Europe and Africa', Volume 2 'North and South America (including Central America and the West Indies)', Volume 3 'Asia & Australia & New Zealand'. In this comprehensive three-volume work, over two hundred of the better known world timbers are illustrated in colour and concisely described with the minimum of technical terms. Intended primarily for use by architects and their clients, the timber trade, and the timber-using industries. Dust-jacket spine faded on Vol.1, all jackets with slight edge creasing (residual sellotape marks on Vol.1), vols 2 and 3 price-clipped, all end-papers foxed (vol 2 flap-foxing), otherwise a clean and presentable set, green cloth, gilt spine titles.
