1.) THE WILLOWS COPPER (ARGENTIFEROUS) SYNDICATE (1889)

The Willows Copper (Argentiferous) Syndicate was the 186th company to be registered in the Transvaal Republic. It was registered in 1888 with a capital value of £100,000.

'This is to certify that Henry L. Scholtz of Pretoria is entitled to FIVE shares of One Pound each, fully paid up, Numbered from 17041 to 17045 inclusive, in the Capital Stock of "The Willows Copper (Argentiferous) Syndicate, Limited." Given at Pretoria, this 20 day of Feb 1889.'

Signed by the Secretary and Directors.

The certificate was printed by Flavell, Brown & Co., Printers, Pretoria and Johannesburg.

2.) THE KLERKSDORP GOLD & DIAMOND COMPANY (1896)

The towns of Klerksdorp and Potchefstroom were the first two towns established in the old Transvaal Republic. Today mining still remains the economic anchor of Klerksdorp. The company that issued this share certificate appears to have been registered in England in lieu of the Transvaal as it is not listed in the Transvaal Chamber of Mines Directory of Registered Companies, Syndicates Etc.

Printed by Crowther & Goodman, Designers and Printers of Bonds &c., London.

'This is to certify that Henry Osborn Thwaites of Bexhill on Sea is the Registered Proprietor of Twenty FULLY PAID Shares in The Klerksdorp Gold & Diamond Company, Limited. Given under the Common Seal of the said Company this 26th day of August 1896.'

Signed by the Secretary and Directors.
