Esmé Berman (1929-2017) is best known for writing Art and Artists of South Africa, the first comprehensive reference work on South African artists, in 1970. It has been reprinted numerous times and is considered the standard work in the field.

Adolph Jentsch (29 December 1888 Dresden – 18 April 1977 Windhoek) was a German-born South West African/Namibian artist. He is widely regarded as one of Namibia's most famous painters.
