Overall: a better than average copy of the first edition. ‘Dickinson’s approach is systematic, describing the haunts of each major species of wild game in East Africa including lion, kudu, oryx, eland, and other plains game, particularly near Guaso Nyiro and the River Tana. There is an excellent chapter on stalking buffalo accompanied by some marvelous photos of the author hunting a wounded buffalo in the swamp regions near lakes Solai and Baringo.’ (Czech. An annotated Bibliography of African Big Game hunting Books, 1785 to 1950, page 48).
