Frank Vigers Worthington (1874-1964) was a bank clerk in Johannesburg. In 1896 he was a trooper in the second Matabele war, then accounts official in Bulawayo and appointed secretary to Robert Coryndon in 1897, arriving in Lealui (Lewanika’s chief town) in October. In 1901 he was appointed District Commissioner in Batakoland and in 1904 Secretary for Native Affairs in North-west Rhodesia. In 1911 he held the same position for all Northern Rhodesia. Known locally as N'gake "the doctor". Resigned and moved to the UK in 1914. In 1918 he was Deputy Chief Censor for the War Office. Received an OBE in 1920. - Britishmuseum.org

Interestingly, Worthington supplied the vignette illustrations for fellow-trooper Frank Sykes' book 'With Plumer in Matabeleland' (1897).
