Publisher's original full-leather binding with gilt embossed title on front panel and spine.

905pp [Old Testament] + 296pp [New Testament].

A fine unused copy of the first Afrikaans Family Bible. Published in 1953.

Binding tight. Contents clean. Pages white. Gilt on the page edges bright. ALL the registers at the front of the Bible are clean and unused. It is very uncommon to find a copy in this condition.

The Familiebybel is quite a large book, measuring 28,2 x 19,5 cm and weighing 2,2kg, but it is not as large as the Afrikaans Pulpit Bible, which is huge.

The Familiebybel would have been a familiar sight in the entry halls of most upper middle-class Afrikaner households of the mid-20th century.

  • Binding Condition: Fine
  • Overall Condition: Fine
  • Size: 28,2 x 19,5 cm
