General William Booth’s monumental, foundational social manifesto that established the organizational blueprint for modern institutional social work. This copy features magnificent, crisp historical association stamps on the title page tracking it to early Johannesburg: "Captain L. Prinsloo / Commissioner St. / 131 / Johannesburg". Further inscribed on the front flyleaf by the family line: "Loaned by Capt. Leslie Prinsloo, 17/5/63". An exceptional piece of early Transvaal social history.
