Limited edition. 

Christian Igantius Latrobe (1758- 1836) set out as a missionary, voyaging to the Cape of Good Hope and founding a new mission station on the Witrivier. Latrobe was an English clergyman of the Moravian Church, an expert on scared music, an artist, musician and composer.

Facsimile reprint of the 1818 edition published by Seeley of London. Limited to 1000 numbered copies of which this is no. 917. With a new introduction by South African historian Frank R. Bradlow. 406 pp. Folio. Fold-out map of Cape of Good Hope Colony. Frontispiece- engraved portrait of author, 16 plates (mostly colour landscapes). Brown cloth boards with gilt edging to front and back boards. Gilt decorative panelling and lettering on spine.

Overall condition very good+. No wear, practically pristine.
