First edition: 281 pages, frontispiece, 63 full page photographs, folding map at the rear of the book, photographic mountain scene end papers, uncut page edges, red cloth titled gilt on the upper cover and spine, a very good and clean copy. Signature of a previous owner on title page, dated 1929.

Czech (Dr. Kenneth) An Annotated Bibliography of African Big Game Hunting Books 1785 – 1999, page 144: A popular title of its day that went through many printings. Martin and wife, Osa, followed, photographed and eventually bagged a few of the big cats in East Africa. The first chapter, on the dangers of lion hunting is perhaps the best.
