Name on ffep of Reg Gilbert (Bombay). This could be the hunter: Gilbert, Reginald (1888) : Notes on Sambhur and Sambhur Stalking, Jr. BNHS, Vol. 3(4) :224
An excellent work describing hunting in the Nigrini Hills of southern India, this features chapters on stalking ibex, sambur, and sported deer, with additional accounts of encounters with tigers and leopards. Of further interest are several descriptions of hunting, or temporarily mad elephants by other sportsmen, and stalking bison in the Bowany Valley. He also makes the claim that the works of Walter Campbell and the Old Shekarry (Henry Leveson) were """"touched up with the colour of romance and 'sensation,' partaking largely of the hyperhole of shikar.""""
