J.N. Brink, a Boer soldier, was captured in the Second Boer War and sent to a prison camp in Ceylon by the British. His memoir provides a first hand insight into his experiences as a prisoner-of-war, including his capture, transportation to Ceylon, and life in the prison camp. Brink describes the harsh conditions of the camp, the mistreatment of prisoners by their captors, and the daily struggles of life in captivity. He also provides insights into the political and social climate of the time, including the Boer War and the British Empire's treatment of its colonies.

Recollections of a Boer Prisoner-of-War at Ceylon offers a unique perspective on a little-known aspect of the Boer War and sheds light on the experiences of prisoners-of-war during this tumultuous period in history.
