First edition. xvi, 340 pages, 12 pages of Rowland Ward’s catalogue, 4 photographic plates, original red cloth with gilt titling on the upper cover and spine, foxing on the edges and light foxing throughout the text, the covers are worn along the edges, a good copy.

Czech (Kenneth) Bibliography of African Big Game Hunting Books 1785 -1999, page 153: An elusive Rowland Ward publication, this title continues Kirby's big game hunting adventures in the neighbourhood of the Zambesi and Shire Rivers. He bagged kudu, leopard, eland and buffalo while also shooting hippo and crocodiles. His best chapters cover his experiences hunting elephant in the Chiringoma region. Kirby's writing style, while quite descriptive, features some exceptionally long paragraphs.
