The Case of the Royal Martyr Considered with Candour (1758)

is a two-volume defense of King Charles I written by Anglican

clergyman John Boswell. It served as a response to contemporary

"libels" or criticisms against the king, particularly aiming to counteract

negative portrayals in works like George Coades’s 1764 A Letter to a

Clergyman and Thomas Birch’s 1747/1756 inquiries.
