THE EROTIC DRAWINGS OF ANTON KANNEMEYER

Hardcover with 102 pages including a 4 page List of Works and an 11 page introductory essay by Antjie Krog, titled Enter These Pages at Your Peril! The work contains 70 (mostly full-colour) plates of pen-and-ink illustrations selected from the artist’s sketchbooks between the years 1995 and 2013.

The book saw two limited editions in the same year (2014), the first in an orange cover, and the reprint in yellow. The copy on offer has orange cloth boards in very good condition; clean except for a few light blemishes. A shallow rectangular indentation in the front board creates the suggestion of a frame around the title panel. The pale pink pictorial endpapers depict naked male and female bodies, drawn from the waist down. There is a gift inscription, in blue ball point pen, that runs down the left front endpaper, inside the cover. Apart from this, the book is clean and unmarked. No dust wrapper present.

Artists Anton Kannemeyer and Conrad Botes are behind the often controversial Bitterkomix creative partnership, known for their uniquely dark and biting critique of conservative Afrikaner culture.
